I don't like back pain!

Yikes, still not feeling much better. I was back to work on Thursday for half a day but stayed home on Friday again. Each time I walk I feel like I have aged 50 years. It's back to work starting on Monday. I hope I hear soon from the physical therapy and can get started as I really, really want to get rid of this "darn" pain!!!

The temperatures are still around 100. It's pretty unbarable without A/C. I can't wait for fall to come :)
A/C is definitely the next project on the list! The backyard will have to wait!!!!

Not much going on in my little world... I have been reading a lot this past week and have rested as doctor suggested... so a lot of relaxation but not really anything exciting going on.

Back to work for me tomorrow

OK, it's back to work for me tomorrow. I was supposed to rest my back and legs two more days but just checked my email at work and I have a deadline I need to meet tomorrow by noon. I just need to make sure to take the pain pills at work, not move around too much as that is what shots pain in my legs and just to take it easy....

Update

OK, it's been a while since I updated my blog... to be honest, I have been debating if I should keep it or if I should get rid of it. I decided to try to update it on a more regular basis for one more month and see how things are going.

1) Got my back injured and are laying in bed right now, with the laptop on my lap. Thank heaven for technology ourdays. I did some power cleaning last week and hurt my back and must have pinched a nerve as the pain is going right to my leg and to the knee. No fun! Each time I move around, its shoting pains right into my leg! Yikes. Saw the doctor on Monday and am on anti-inflamatory medication and some other drugs to releave the pain.

2)Hubby has decided he wants to go back to school. I am so excited for him ... He has looked into a Bachelors degree at the University of Phoenix for ITT. We are waiting to hear some information on his VA bill to decide if we can bare the expenses right now and if he can start classes on Saturday. Not much time to take a decision... but this is the last time that they are starting classes at the Woodland Hills location, so it would be wonderful location wise. Otherwise he would have to go to the campus somewhere in West Los Angeles. Some classes are online, others are on campus. Now we are just waiting to hear back on the VA stuff. Jer did some research on the internet and found some wording that can be interpreted two different ways...
*either you receive $xxx or you have to use the $XXX within 10 years, whatever is less... We are wondering if you have to have the education completed within 10 years or if you are ok to just start drawing the $ within 10 years. This will defintely decide if we can do it right away or if we will need to look at another way to make schooling become reality. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out and that he can go back! I am so excited... after I have been bugging him for years to go back to school, I finally started about 2 years ago... and now he decided himself he wants to go back! So much for bugging, huh??

3) Went to the Hollywood Bowl for the very first time on July 16th with Inken, Andy, Barbara and 2 of Andy & Inken's friends from MusicCare. We had seats in a booth - amazing! Can't wait to go back there soon :)

4) The kitchen is moving along... we got a call from Lowe's today that the cabinets are supposed to be in on July 29th. We are supposed to get a call from the manufacturer to deliver the goodies and than the installers are coming over for inspection and to determine if they cabinets are ok or if some of them need to be returned. We are moving along... can't wait to FINALLY see the finished project. It feels like ages that we had a kitchen and it's funny, all I am craving are the simple things, like a homemade soap. Eating out is fun, but if you do it for an extended period of time, it's getting very tiring. <----- REMINDER, once we have our kitchen back!!! It's fun to eat at home LOL!

5) Awe.... just got the new class schedule from ML for their August - October classes. They are offering the lighting class Ang, Inken and I wanted to take in middle of October. Keeping my fingers crossed that Inken is not on vacation during that time, but I have a bad feeling for some reason... I hope that we will be able to go thought! The first class we took "F-stops" was absolutely fabulous!

6) I SWEARRRRR, and you can quote me... one of our next home remodeling projects will be an A/C!!!! It's so darn hot right now (in the 100's) that we can barely breath! We are trying to survive with fan and water spray bottles, but it's no piece of cake! Yikes!!! I can't wait for fall to come but I doubt that it's around the corner!

... thats about it... hoping that the pain is finally going away! I want to be able to walk again without feeling a sharp pain go down my leg! Just moving without jumping and getting tears in my eyes!!!

Stamp Convention

:) Back home from the Stamp Convention in Carson. Inken and I had so much fun! It's been the 4th stamp convention I have been too and I always feel on a treasure hunt... Setting a budget simply doesn't work... there are just too many great stamps out there... We ended up with (let's not count them) stamps, new ink pads and new easy mount. And best of all.... we got the entire evening to play around!!!!

A day at the beach

We just got back from a day at the beach... here we are living so closed to it but barely ever going to the beach. Today was so relaxing and fun that we decided to leave the beach chairs in the car and head down there more often. The ocean breeze was wonderful and it was so relaxing to sit and read, and just to chill! On our shopping list is a beach umbrella so we can stay a little longer next time.
I can feel that my skin got some color, although it probably will be turning red and turning in a little "army" of freakles! Finally at peace with my red hair and slowly but surely getting to accept the freakles ... unless they multiply in unknown numbers and in high speed....

All in all this has been a great weekend. Yesterday we went to the outlet mall in Camarillo, to the library and to the movies. ... and tomorrow we are getting together with Marie & Scott for a 4th of July BBQ!!

How technology has changed in my lifetime

This month's destination at Scrapsahoy was Greece and the theme was time. The first thing that popped in my mind was how technology had changed in my lifetime.
I am not that old - LOL, but in my 32 years on this planet I have seen a lot of changes in technology:

* I will never forget the first time dad came home with a gigantic box and told us he had purchased a VCR. Back than VCR's were rare and rather expensive. Mom's face lit up with pure joy and Sabine and I just stood around looking at the silver monster not sure what to think of it.

* I studied law only for 4 semesters but I remember typing my first term paper on a typewriter that was equipped with a floppy disk! Back than I felt like it was "hot stuff". When I moved on and studied Business, I got my very first PC and remember that it completely intimidated me for the longest time. I was scared to death that pushing the wrong bottom would delete everything but on the other side was intrigued at the possibilities it offered....

* Than came internet... years ago while still living in Germany we a monthly internet fee and also phone charges based on how long you stayed on the net. The purpose back than was to gather information as quickly as possible and get out of the internet ASAP. Nowadays.... I couldn't imagine a day without the net. It connects me to information, friends, to sites where I can share my passion about scrapbooking and stamping and to email that has become very important esp. since the 9 hours time difference to Germany doesn't allow me during the week to call home as either my family is asleep or at work or I am.

* My first CD player... and my first CD's. I still remember that I purchased "The Cure" and "The Smiths" and was so excited. Look at us now... now it's downloading music from the internet and IPods (yes, and I still have my eyes on that Photo Ipod)~smile

* Cellphones - for some a curse for others indispensible. There has been much discussion about driving and cellphones... my take on it is that yes, they can distract a driver but so can other people in the car, food to are trying to eat, music you are listening too... I like using my cellphone on my way home from work to stay in touch with friends. The commute is stop and go traffic and it's nice to make the drive a little more enjoyable.

* Medicine - still waiting for the cure of cancer and hoping to see it in my lifetime. Technology has progressed so much that I am convinced that one day (hopefully soon) someone finds this cure.

My list could go on and on...
I am curious to see what technology has in stock for us in the next few years! ... and of course on top of my list is that I am praying for cures in medicine!

Pottery Barn - I can "just" see this in my scrapping room

BloggerBot

Awe... looking at this makes me want to go and order it right away. I have been peaking at this for a few months now... and I can "just" picture it in my scrapping room. The color would be perfect ....

We are finally back online... the last couple of days have been more or less a hit and miss... since we have the laptop our DSL has been crazy... each time we turned the PC on it went directly to a black screen... DH was wonderful! I don't think I would have been able to figure it all out, but once we de-installed the DSL, things started to run more smoothly... so I am finally back... keeping those fingers and toes (yes toes) crossed that it stays that way...

I got 2 emails yesterday... one from Scrapbook Trends for a layout and one for Paper Trends for a gift idea! It's so nice to open up the email and find these in my inbox!! Just had to share my excitement!

Forth of July weekend: Planning to:
BBQ
Movies
Relax
Maybe take a little trip to the beach
and just have a blast! 3 days to kick back and enjoy!
Happy 4th of July!!!! Enjoy!!!
