Quick update

I am back :) We had a few computer issues the past few days and our DSL was not up and running.... so just a quick update as I have a pile of emails to go through:

1) Lowe's was out to measure the kitchen on Thursday. We only have to make a few minor changes to our kitchen design.

2) We had an appointment scheduled to order the cabinets today. Jer and I were at Lowe's and I picked up a chainsaw joking around "KILL ME NOW OR KILL ME LATER" ... (I wish I had my camera with me!!!). Well it turned out that the measurements were not yet with the design department, so my fear and stress level of dropping this much money at onces was normal again once we learned we had to come back. LOL! Most people would probably have a little fit, but guess what I felt a little bit of relief. Silly me, as we really want to move forward with the kitchen... eating out is getting old and all I am longing for is to have my kitchen back. Ahhhh, a few more days to rethink the cabinet style and color... I am going back and forth!

3) I got a new PC at work yesterday and was able to leave one hour early. Lucky me, huh? The ISD people came at 3 p.m. and since the installation took one hour and I am leaving at four anyways, I got to leave early. That and coming in this morning and having a little "race" machine on my desk really made my day! I just love new and upgraded "technology stuff". (guess a little someting I inherited ...)

4) Stamp convention - the countdown is on... only 1 1/2 more weeks to go! Can't wait!!!!

5) Time to run and take care of a few things! More later!

Our trip to San Diego

Our trip to the SD Scrapbook Expo:
Inken and Sven picked my up at 7 a.m. We headed over to Stevenson Ranch to meet up with Ang at Starbucks. After a cup of coffee/tea we hit the road at 7:45 a.m. We decided to take the 210 instead of the 5 or 405 in order to get around traffic and were lucky. We made it to San Diego in 2 hours and 45 min. It was really hard to find parking as the entire Convention Center lot was already closed since there were not more spaces available. We were lucky and found a lot not to far from the convention center.
Inken's brother Sven was a trooper!!! I think he was one of the very few male visitors :)
We did some shopping and looking around and stayed at the convention for about 2 - 3 hours. Afterwards we decided to drive up to Carlsbad for a nice luncheon close to the beach. We found a lovely italian place and had a great lunch! More shopping... we ended up dragging Sven to Ever After in Carlsbad and on our way back stopped at Scrapbook Oasis in Irvine. We got back to Stevenson Ranch at around 8 p.m. all tired and exhausted. The trip was a blast!!

Mood O Meter

I had a blast creating this little tag - my mood-o-meter - today.
I thought it would be a fun little item to showcast my daily moods :) So here it goes... I finally figured out a way to put it in the sidebar (and it didn't even take me 3 hours LOL)

An unexpected email that made me happy!

I received a very unexpected email last week from my friends Ock Hee and Jee Hee. We lived together in Tours/France for 6 months while attending "L'Institute de Touraine" to study French in 1996! We shared a lot of stories, laughers and wonderful times together. After the 6 months, Ock Hee moved to Paris to study art, Jee Hee moved to Paris to study fashion and I went to Paris for 3 months to work in Euro Disneyland before returning to Germany to go back to university. Our ways parted but we kept in touch. A few years ago, while moving I lost all my addresses and was never able to get some of them back... one of them was Ock Hee's. Can you imagine my excitement when my parents emailed me that Ock Hee had contacted them asking for my contact information. Within a few days a few emails went back and forth... in English, in French, trying to see what each of us had been up to these past years. It's wonderful to hear from a special friend again after all this time... feels like coming home!
OK, my french is really, really bad now... I can read and understand some of it, but can't really compile sentences anymore... but here it goes... to Ock Hee and Jee Hee:

Je penses toujour à toi et tu me manques beaucoup!! Je t'embrasse très fort et à bientôt!!!!

Life is precious - make the most out of each day!

I just learned today that the son of one of our coworkers passed away at 22. My heart goes out to him and his family! I feel unbelievable sad and without words ...and once again reminded how precious life is! Reminded to make the most of each and every day! Live life to it's fullest and be good to your family and friends! Make moments last and remember that life is a precious gift! Time to go and hug my husband and tell my family how much I love them! And time to be grateful for every single day!!!

Things that make me happy

I have been working on an "All about me" album lately. This is another layout for my album! I never thought it would be so much fun to do an entire album about me, but it's been a blast! I can only recommend to work on an album about yourself. Imagine how much your children and family will treasure knowing more about YOU!

7) Wann kommt Ihr mal wieder???? Die Kueche ist in ca. 6-7 Wochen fertig??
Ihr fehlt mir! Bussi Bille

She is back home!!!

I am so excited and happy that my friend Inken is back home!!! It's been a little lonely without her! I missed our chatters and get togethers!
We met yesterday for a few hours and I am just thrilled to have her back! Nothing that can beat "time with girlfriends"!!!

I love her line! The colors, the design, just everything! And now I hardly can't wait to get the goodies and start playing....

Sam's letters to Jennifer - James Patterson!

Wow, I finally have made time to read again. I used to read a lot and than somehow I just ended up looking through magazines as time didn't really permit reading books anymore. Lately I have made time to read again... and I am loving it! It's so nice to sit down with a good book and loose track of time and place!
The latest book I read: Sam's letters to Jennifer by James Patterson
I couldn't put the book down. I started reading it on Monday evening and couldn't put it down until I was finished Monday night!
If you have a little time - highly recommended.

A little update for Mom/Dad and friends in Germany

I decided to do a weekly update in German for my family {mom & dad; sister & family; friends}:
Woche 1/June 12, 2005
Dickes Bussi! Ihr fehlt mir!
Bille

My wishes on a Sunday Evening!

A nice little 3 - 4 week vacation would be awesome!
BIG GRIN!!!
Time to relax, to refocus, to tank new energy, to sleep in, to take that trip to Hawai we have been wanting to do for a few years now. Yes, the more I think about it, the more I just want to sleep in tomorrow and have a summer off just like in the good old days {of school}
This is our kitchen design that we created with the help of Lowes!

My hubby is simply the BEST!!!

I feel so unbelievable blessed! Jer went to the laundrymate (due to construction) and grocery shopping by himself to give me some time to clean the scrapping room. HOW SWEET IS THAT!!!! I feel so spoiled and lucky to have him! What a keeper!
The scrapping room looked like a bomb had hit! Stuff everywhere! I felt like I wasn't able to create anything until I would do a little clean sweep.

BloggerBot

I removed the crop'n style table since it was not very durable and moved 3 of the crop'n style cube together! Looks much better than before :) We got that cute little white stool at Target the other day and it is perfect for the plano! Just the right hight! They had the cutest shabby chic furniture ... in white/pink!

BloggerBot

Now I just need to get a better worktable and do something with the blank walls. I have some ideas... Will post more about them later :) ... time to spend some quality time with DEAR HUBBY!

Kitchen Update

We are moving along...

BloggerBot

the drywall is up and the first layer of primer. Still waiting for the new windows to arrive.

BloggerBot

The schedule for next weeks should look like this:
* finish up the hot water heat that was moved outside (put up metal enclosure and vent)
* float floor and lay tile
* paint kitchen
* have Lowe's out to remeasure the kitchen and than off to order the cabinets. We already set down with them for the design but we need to remeasure since the plaster is gone and was replaced with drywall.
So exciting!!!

SA Idol Auditions

OH MY GOD!!!! Voting for only 30 out of almost 70 entries has been one of the hardest things I had to do in my life! There are so many fabulous entries and so much talent out there and selecting only 30 seems to be nearly impossible!
I can't wait to see the SA Idol 2005 evolve! It's interesting to see the event from the other site this year but it truly is not easier but as hard as waiting for the results last year!
Congrats to everyone for entering and for sharing your amazing talent and stories with us!

Addicted to Starbucks

My days start with Starbucks and now it seems like they soon will be ending with Starbucks! It's 11:03 and I am dreaming of a Carmel Light Frappuchino - I would call this true addiction!

Decisions/Decisions - I am so torn!

OK, I have been peaking at the photo ipod for some time now. Each time I go to Best Buy or to the Apple store I am literally drooling all over it. I have create a wishlist of music that I want to download once I "bring my baby" home. Only a few more weeks... waiting for that sickleave cash out that should be coming sometime in July. Only a few more weeks!

!!!!!
BloggerBot Posted by Hello

On another note... we need to get a laptop. DH is fed up with me occupying the PC 24/7 leaving him stranded. So we decided it was time to get a laptop so we both can work/play at the same time. I am a little torn right now... I have always wanted an apple! Not sure why... maybe because it just looks so darn cute! Torn if we really should buy an apple or if it would be wiser to purchase a regular laptop mostly because I could use all my existing programs. Argh, I am not good in taking decisions like this! I am afraid I am taking the wrong decision
1) if I purchase the apple G4 - I would need to purchase the office program again. Yikes! Would all my other programs work? What if there is something I am missing by being blinded with the cute little shape and color?
2) if I purchase a dell/hp/or other brand - Will I regret once again that I didn't go for that apple I have been peaking at forever now?

I am torn

Life is good

LIFE IS GOOD - I had a wonderful, relaxing lunch with Ang at Maggiano's. I got to Scrapbook Safari this morning and they had a 20% sale, I made it to the post office and I spent a little time at Barnes & Nobles flipping through magazines while talking to Assi on the cellphone. Now I am sitting here in front of my computer with a Carmel Frappuchino light next to me. What could be better?
I might be able to get one small layout done before Jer gets home and than off to the movies. Yes, LIFE IS GOOD!
...Now could I just have a few more days off to relax, read, reorganize my scrapping space and have some more fun? (... wishful thinking! Worth a try though :))

OK I am taking the plunge

For a few months I have been thinking of creating a blog. In fact, I had create one but than I couldn't figure out how to upload pictures, so I decided to just delete it. Having some spare time on my hands, I decided to take the plunge again... so here we go...
Still wondering if I will be able to upkeep this - time seems so precious and passing so quickly that I am not sure if the few hours to myself I have each day will give me enough time to stay up to date. We'll see... No pressure :)

It's 9 a.m. Friday and I have a day off. Yeah! I love having every second Friday off and wouldn't know what to do if all of a sudden I had to give these days up. They keep me sane, they keep me balanced, they are a treasure! Usually I meet up with friends on these days off and we go shopping, scrapbook, go for coffee and just hang out. Today I am on my own as Inken is in Germany. I wish she was around - it's so much nicer to have company, but I know I have a lot of things on my plate, so I can focus a bit on my to do list.

The contractors are here right now... I can hear the banging from the adjacent kitchen... It's looking good and I feel like we are finally moving along. It's been a long road, but it will be so worth it in the end. I can picture the new kitchen in front of me! I can picture our new cabinets, countertop, floor. And I can picture us in there... cooking, chatting, laughing. When we moved into our house, we knew that the kitchen eventually had to go. But life is crazy and for the past 2 years we have been busy remodeling pretty much everything but the kitchen. We knew the kitchen was a big undertaking... and an expensive one. And I think if our hot waterheater had not exploded on us and put the kitchen under water we would have waited for this project until next year. The more I am excited to say though that it is moving along ... that I assume in less than 8 weeks we will have a beautiful new kitchen.

So whats on my list to do today: Scrapbook Safari has a sell. I promised Martha to pick up some Doodlebug rubons for her (and some for me LOL). Than off to the post office... mailing items to ST for the Holiday Idea Book. I am still very excited that I got an email. I just recently started to submit a few things. And it surely feels nice to receive emails and a call back. I promise myself not to get crazy over it. If I have something that fits a call - great, but I am trying to keep things in perspective - meaning 1. Family 2. Friends 3. Work and time for myself. I want to keep scrapbooking a pleasure, a joy, KWIM? Whatever follows will be embraced, but if it doesn't than that's ok too.

Anyways, off to run some errands...
